THIS IS A VIRTUAL EVENT

Public Poetry, a literary nonprofit based in Houston, Texas, has expanded its annual poetry film festival. Now in its third year, REELpoetry will run for five days instead of three, and it will be entirely online. REELpoetry will happen on Feb. 24-28. The festival program includes more than 100 poemfilms and videopoems from creators around the world. Some are from right here in Houston. The festival received entries from creators in 26 countries including Australia, Canada, China, Ireland, UK, Spain, Russia and Zimbabwe. Several experts curated presentations and will also participate in live discussions with festival goers. The poemfilms and videopoetry include selections from our ekphrasis contest for which entrants wrote poems to go with video and film prompts Public Poetry provided. Two workshops, a panel discussion, a VIP reception, contest awards, and an open mic session are all included in this year’s festival. Festival ticket pricing is different this year, too! All five days are give-what-you can. We know the pandemic is affecting people. We have suggested prices on our website, including suggested discounts for first responders and low-income households. Ticket holders will be invited to participate in live discussions and to watch the festival presentations for up to a week after REELpoetry ends.
