Nasher Members are invited to an exclusive virtual studio tour with Nasher collection artist Joel Shapiro, followed by a conversation with the artist led by Curator Catherine Craft. The two will discuss Shapiro’s works that are featured in the upcoming exhibition Nasher Mixtape, as well hear stories of his years’-long, enduring relationship with the Nasher family.

About Joel Shapiro
One of the most prominent and influential sculptors of the era, New York-based Joel Shapiro (American, b. 1941) has long explored geometric form through structural compositions of rectangular elements that visually and physically challenge the possibilities of balance and weight. The spare, geometric constructions are suggestive of bodies (human or otherwise) in dynamic poses and have been featured in museum exhibitions and collections around the world, including Joel Shapiro at the Nasher in 2016. The Raymond and Patsy Nasher Collection is also fortunate to count among its holdings six works by Shapiro spanning three decades of his distinguished career.
