« Les caractères de la danse » with the New York Baroque Dance Company - In-Person and Virtual Event

Zion Lutheran Church

This is an in-person and virtual event

The Dallas Bach Society brings the fun and the fantastic to life with members of The New York Baroque Dance Company as they embody characters of the Commedia and the people's theater in the Baroque. Think of Watteau's paintings or the Porcelain figures of Dresden.

“A second facet of heaven.”– Mindy Aloff, danceviewtimes.com

Pierrot will dance Les Caracteres de la Danse by Jean Fery Rebel. In his traditional costume and wearing a full face mask, this challenging role changing sexes and ages as the eleven short movements fly by, will be danced by its choreographer, Catherine Turocy. Will she be able to play a man playing a woman? Come and see!

Harlequin and Columbine will be joined by Apollo, a juggler, a peasant, a bacchante, an Ostrich and a person with 3 legs. Most of the dances are solos and every dance is artfully double masked (COVID mask under a Baroque mask).

“The Dallas Bach Society…an experience worth seeking”- D Magazine

This panoply of pandemonium will be shared with the Dallas Bach Society instrumentalists not only accompanying the dances, but adding some fun of their own.
