The Centennial Project: My Voice, My Vote, My Turn

Fair Park

The Centennial Project: My Voice, My Vote, My Turn celebrates the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote by amplifying the voices of young women voters. Enjoy the fall weather and take a walk around the Leonhardt Lagoon at Fair Park to experience five large-scale painted portraits and statements from young women exercising their vote for the first time.

By this November, approximately 15 million young people will have turned 18 since the 2016 election. Young women have immense power, wisdom and voices that need to be heard, and this project asks first time women voters what they have to say about the issues that matter most to them. Through the creation of large scale self-portraits and personal statements, five OutLoud artists between the ages of 18-19 speak out about what is on the line for them this election and the importance of using your voice to incite change.

OutLoud’s mission is to amplify youth voice and value young people as capable changemakers, artists and storytellers. Through the intersection of arts-based storytelling projects, creative discovery and restorative practices. OutLoud creates youth driven spaces that ignite imagination, promote wellbeing, and provide platforms for youth to speak and be heard by their communities.
