Class meets Wednesdays, Nov. 4-Dec. 16, 7-9 p.m.
This hybrid online & in-person course will introduce students to sketch comedy starting with simple two-person sketches and character monologues. They will learn to generate funny scenarios and interesting characters from scratch and bring them to life on the page and the stage! The first half of this course will take place virtually and the second half will take place in person as students learn to stage and perform their pieces. This class includes a showcase with extremely limited audience capacity. Students may also choose to have a different actor perform in their piece if they are not comfortable with live performance during this time. There is no prerequisite for this course.
The theme for this class and showcase has been chosen in advance. Students will be writing pieces inspired by current events that allow for safe staging, including the pandemic, quarantine, and social distancing.
