Art Walk West Returns to Trinity Groves on October 24

Tin District

Founded in 2015 by the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Art Walk West celebrates the creative culture of West Dallas, which has one of the city’s largest concentrations of artists and artist studios. On Saturday, October 24, it’s back for another round. The sixth annual event, which winds through Trinity Groves and the emerging Tin District, is free and open to the public, so Art Walkers from DFW and beyond can experience the thriving creative movement that continues to grow in this community.

This year, Art Walk West will feature a virtual and in-person self-guided tour, as it aspires to create a safe space for community connection through the arts, while also lifting up artistic voices that address issues of social justice.

Attendees are encouraged to start their tour on Fabrication Street, which is the center of all activities and galleries. This is also where they can pick up a program, the schedule of events and a map showing the locations of the murals and descriptions of the art.

Tour stops will include 10 live-painted murals, Sweet Pass Sculpture Park, exhibition spaces, artist studios, galleries, hands-on art activities and performances. There will be a sound stage with live music provided by the AT&T Performing Arts Center and Toyota to keep attendees entertained between stops. And some of West Dallas’ most important artists and galleries will take part, including Sedrick and Letitia Huckaby, Ex Ovo and 500x.

On the 24th, participants can check out the West Dallas Chamber of Commerce Instagram, which will actively track the events of the day. Its Facebook page will host pre-recorded sets and also livestream certain activities.

2020 Art Walk West takes place Saturday, October 24 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information, please visit https://westdallaschamber.org/
