The Hawn Gallery at SMU’s Hamon Arts Library presents new works by artist and writer Michael Corris. Corris has been active as an artist since the early 1970s, initially as a member of the collective Art & Language in New York. Since then, Corris has continued to exhibit and publish internationally, both as an individual and in collaboration with other artists and writers. This exhibition tracks a particular theme in Corris’s work — art’s role in the process of the formation of a city’s identity — through his relationship to the cultural life of Dallas and the many editions of the Venice Biennale.
