Halloween Storytelling Special: Telling Scary Stories

Virtual Event - Dallas County

Before horror movies filled with special effects & jump scares kept us up at night, audiences got scared the old-fashioned way: through storytelling. In this class, students will practice the art & craft of telling scary stories. Whether ghost stories, campfire tales, or true stories, students will explore the elements of what makes a story truly frightening and frighteningly true, while developing their own stories for performance. This class includes a scary storytelling showcase for friends & family. There is no prerequisite for this class.

This course will focus on:

  • Finding inspiration and sources for scary stories
  • Building suspense and tension in the audience
  • Creating audience engagement through details and specifics
  • Performance techniques for telling your stories to an audience

This is a 4-week reoccurring online course held Mondays, 7-9pm CST starting Monday, October 5th. The instructor is Sydney Plant. All sales are final. Classes are non-refundable but enrollment can be deferred to a future term. All students must adhere to policies in the Stomping Ground Student Handbook. Must be 18 years or older.
