Orchestra of New Spain Garden Concert I

Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden

The Orchestra of New Spain (ONS) will present its second Live Concert of the season at Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Garden on Saturday, October 31 at 3pm. (Rain date, Sunday Nov 1 at 3 pm) Tickets are $60 and include wine, gourmet picnic box, and valet parking. Details available with Ticket purchase at www.ticketdfw.com or by calling 214-871-5000. Further information at ONS office: 214-750-1492

A Wind Quintet from the Orchestra’s musicians will accompany attendees for an afternoon concert and picnic on the lawn of the iconic Valley House Sculpture Garden. Audience members can view the garden sculptures while masked, pick up a drink, find a chair, or table with their pod of friends, and enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch all the while listening to the ONS wind band playing a program of Cuban Paquito D’Rivera, Samuel Barber, Francis Poulenc, D’Indy and Isaac Albéniz.

Cheryl and Kevin Vogel invite the audience to view the upcoming exhibition ‘On Being Human’ in the Valley House Gallery both before and after the concert.

“Being an outdoor concert in a more casual setting than our usual salon concerts, we are introducing wind instruments located at a safe distance from the audience while servers and greeters are masked and distanced. It’s not by chance that the program features composers whose lives and careers were never far from the gardens and parks of Paris and the outdoor cafes of that city,” said Artistic Director, Grover Wilkins 3d. “

ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA OF NEW SPAIN
The Orchestra of New Spain is a 36-member orchestra and chorus created in 1989 in the Dallas Arts District, dedicated to research and performance of Spanish and New World baroque music. Its eight-concert season, In-school Tutoring Program, DISD Summer Strings Camp and national & international touring programs are a unique contribution to the Dallas Metroplex.
The Orchestra’s mission is to introduce the neglected Spanish repertory from the 17th and 18th centuries and to educate the public on the importance of staging the cultural implications of its Hispanic heritage. Additionally, ONS performs renaissance, baroque, classical, and romantic repertories on period instruments from various periods and provenances.
