Bravo!

Virtual Event - Dallas County

The August 30 concert of the Lewisville Lake Symphony will be unique in the 36-year history of the orchestra.  For the first time, the symphony will perform by streaming online rather than playing in person to a live audience.  The concert is actually a rescheduling of the April concert for last season that had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus.  Entitled “Bravo!”, the concert features the different sections of the orchestra – strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion – each performing as an ensemble so that musicians stay safe and maintain social distancing on the stage.  Among the works being performed by the various ensembles are Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings.  This familiar composition has been heard at many sad occasions, such as the funerals of FDR, Einstein, and Bernstein, as well as after JFK’s assassination and the New York attacks of September 11.  Works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Richard Strauss, Gustav Holst, and others will also be played.
