Designed especially for the young artist who is eager to engage. Explore a variety of art-making materials and concepts, while learning about artists from history and around the world. This small class fosters creative expression, motor skill development, classroom etiquette, and art tool safety. Thank you Luca (age 5) for the great images of your African-inspired art made in the June class!
Each week, students are exposed to specific vocabulary and broad concepts. Take home practice sheets provide information for parents, who are encouraged to continue and reinforce the learning with art-making at home, using art terms like LINE, SPACE, COLOR, TEXTURE and VALUE to get specific about their child's creative works.
Classes will remain virtual until further notice. We encourage pods and families to take advantage of our one screen group pricing (register as siblings). If virtual is not your thing, we are happy to put together supplies and some suggestions for at home creativity. We will also begin offering outdoor, private pod instruction, and physically distant family classes in October. Stay tuned and thank you for your support! If you have a class request, please let us know.
Virtual lessons How To: Your Class Kit includes the lesson plan and surfaces for each week. Parents should make space for art making and have clean up supplies like hand wipes and napkins near-by. After you register, a link to your ZOOM classroom will be sent along with a welcome email that includes more information as well as a time to arrange kit pick-up.
Items not included in your kit you'll need are a pencil, paintbrushes, scissors, glue, water jar/basin, color dry drawing medium (crayon/colored pencil/marker), apron, paper towel. If you need any of these or other art supply items, please shop with us in Oak Cliff, by phone or online. We prepare orders everyday and are happy to find you just what you need.
