Participants will be introduced to practical tools used for hand-stitching, including types of needles, types of thread, and the most appropriate tools for drawing and transferring patterns. Students will explore the foundational steps of hand-stitching and Sashiko. After learning the basics of Sashiko, participants will be encouraged to bend those rules and develop their own stitching voice. Login details will be sent the day before your class.
Students are also encouraged to bring a textile, home good or article of clothing that could use some hand-stitched embellishment or mending. Denim clothing, linen accessories and any medium-weight home good are perfect for this. Good lighting is recommended so you can see your stitches!
