VIRTUAL ART WORKSHOP: Exploring Hand-Stitching + Sashiko


VIRTUAL:  Exploring Sashiko + Geometric Hand-Stitching
Class date: Saturday, August 8, 2-4pm
Shipping registration deadline: Friday, July 31

*no local pick-up, our teacher is shipping ALL kits from ALABAMA!
Location: Your home!
Instructor: Aaron Sanders Head

Participants will be introduced to practical tools used for hand-stitching, including types of needles, types of thread, and the most appropriate tools for drawing and transferring patterns. Students will explore the foundational steps of hand-stitching and Sashiko. After learning the basics of Sashiko, participants will be encouraged to bend those rules and develop their own stitching voice. Login details will be sent the day before your class.

Home Preparation:
Students are also encouraged to bring a textile, home good or article of clothing that could use some  hand-stitched embellishment or mending. Denim clothing, linen accessories and any medium-weight  home good are perfect for this. Good lighting is recommended so you can see your stitches!

Kit includes::
-Two shades of cotton stitching thread
-Embroidery/sashiko needle
-Naturally dyed fabric
-Marking tool
-Hand-bound pamphlet notebook with dot grid for note-taking
