Summer Zoo Camps (Grade 6-8)

Get the kids out of the house and into nature this summer with a Dallas Zoo camp! We offer camps for students in PreK through Grade 12 with a variety of themes, from animal adaptations to zoo habitat design, and more. Camps include special zoo tours, animal encounters, and staff-led educational activities.

Summer Camps are held select weeks from June 8 through August 3, 2020. Camps are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day. Before Camp and After Camp Care are also available as an add-on during checkout.

Campers should be registered in their 2020-21 school year.

Enrichment Engineers

Calling all makers, designers, and inventors! Spend a week at the Dallas Zoo and learn to make interesting toys and treats to enrich the lives of our Zoo animals. Each day, campers will make new items for a variety of animals and see how animals enjoy those toys and treats.

Zoo by Design
June 15-19

July 27-31

Campers will learn how we design habitats to keep animals happy and healthy. Then you’ll work in Project Design Teams with Zoo staff to help design a new habitat! This camp includes a staff-supervised sleepover on Thursday Night.

Texas Born and Bred
July 13-17

Get your muck boots on and head to the wetlands! Campers will spend three days at the Dallas Zoo exploring the Texas native animals all around us and two days at the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center experiencing the science of wetlands and getting up close to Texas wildlife. This camp includes a staff-supervised sleepover Thursday night at the Wetlands Center, where campers will discover just what comes out of the wetlands at night. Camp concludes after lunch on Friday with a Family Showcase. NO AfterCamp care available the Friday after the overnight.
