Susan York, an artist whose influences include her friendship with mentor Agnes Martin, the De Stijl and Constructivist movements, and Buddhist practice, has created immersive graphite rooms, massive floating columns, and large drawings laden with more than fifty layers of graphite. Her international career has evolved over several decades as an investigation of materials, process, and site-specificity. For Tuesday Evenings, York discusses the arc of her work, including ceramics, graphite, glass, and lithography, in “The Unfolding Center: The Sculpture & Drawings of Susan York.”
