Frontiers of Flight Museum SpaceShipOne Gala

Frontiers of Flight Museum

Join us as we celebrate advances in aerospace and the rich history of aviation and space travel

SpaceShipOne is the first privately-developed spacecraft to carry humans into suborbital space. In 2004, it successfully flew to new heights, winning the esteemed Ansari XPRIZE. The original hangs in the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum and an amazing replica soars high above the Frontiers of Flight Museum’s Cree Main Gallery, thanks to the generosity of the Ansari family.

HADDAWAY ACHIEVEMENT IN AVIATION AWARD

Anousheh Ansari became the world’s first female private space explorer when in 2006 she spent nine days aboard the International Space Station. Ansari is CEO of the XPRIZE Foundation and co-founder and executive chairwoman of Prodea Systems. She is an engineer by trade and a source of inspiration to a new generation. Her family is the title sponsor of the Ansari XPRIZE.

This year, Ansari will be awarded the Museum’s coveted George E. Haddaway Award for her achievements in aerospace.
