Daphne Barbour, senior objects conservator, National Gallery of Art, Washington
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Alonso Berruguete: First Sculptor of Renaissance Spain, this lecture will focus on the study and making of polychrome wooden sculpture in sixteenth-century Spain. Building on her research, Barbour will speak to how Castilian sculptors worked in wood and how Berruguete’s emphasis on design was incorporated into workshop practices.
