UPDATE: In light of the continued spread of COVID-19 around the United States, and in consideration of current guidance from health officials, the Cliburn has made the decision to cancel or postpone all events scheduled through May 30, 2020.
We are currently working with our partners to reschedule the Amateur Competition (previously scheduled for May 24–30, 2020) to the spring of 2022, details to be announced at a later date. Competitors and festival participants accepted for this year’s event will be given first right of refusal to take part in the 2022 Amateur Competition. We are planning to showcase their artistry through videos across social media platforms in the coming months and encourage the world to show them support and encouragement. We will be in contact with ticket buyers directly via email as to their options.

The Amateur Competition highlights the importance of music-making in everyday life, bringing together the world’s best non-professional pianists age 35 and older for seven days of performances, symposia, and social events. The Competition will take place May 24–30, 2020, in Fort Worth, Texas, with the Preliminary & Semifinal Rounds at Van Cliburn Recital Hall (330 East 4th Street) and the Final Round at Bass Performance Hall (4th and Calhoun Streets) with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Damon Gupton. All rounds are open to the public, as are many of the festival events. We hope you’ll join us and get swept up in this truly inspiring, international event, where everyday people become stars of the stage.
The Final Round will be held on May 30, at 2:30 p.m. with the final six competitors, each performing one concerto movement with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Damon Gupton.
NOTE: Patrons must be 8 years of age or older to attend performances.
