James Zamora | Solo

Ro2 Art in The Cedars

Ro2 is proud to present Solo, a solo exhibition featuring new works by artist James Zamora. The show will run from January 18  through February 22, 2020. There will be an opening reception held on Saturday, January 18 from 7-10 p.m. at Ro2’s Cedars gallery located at 1501 S Ervay Street, Dallas, TX 75215.

James Zamora explores the complex relationship between consumers and products in his upcoming exhibition, Solo. From nostalgic childhood delicacies to monotonous grocery aisles, the artist revisits familiar themes while finding inspiration in the technical complexities of everyday life. As a contemporary realist painter, Zamora celebrates ordinary objects by giving them life through attention to reflection, lights and darks, and unexpected color.

Artist Statement

As a realist painter, I am attracted to the technical complexities of everyday life. My paintings reflect all the characteristics from the visual relationships our eyes register to the subtleties of the subconscious. My paintings are often associated with photorealism, but as one inspects the paintings closer there is evidence of human presence. Just as when someone zooms into a photograph there will eventually be pixels, one can zoom into my paintings and see brushstrokes. I welcome the painterly character of my paintings while adding in the amount of details my eyes are able to record.
