CANCELLED: Wee Read

Nicholson Memorial Library System - Central Library

All Garland Libraries are closed through May 9.

Parents of Garland’s youngest citizens can help develop their children’s early literacy skills by attending the Garland Library’s new Wee Read storytime, designed specifically for children 18 months of age and younger.

Wee Read will be held at the Central Library on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Jan. 16 and consist of stories, rhymes, songs, flannel boards, fingerplays, and general play. These activities aim to build language proficiency, strengthen listening skills, encourage socialization, tie images to reading, and connect feelings and motion with words. Wee Read also promotes bonding between infants and caregivers, teaches caregivers ways to promote early literacy at home, and shows caregivers as reading role models.

For more information on Wee Read or storytimes for older children, please call 972-205-2516. The Central Library is located at 625 Austin St., in Downtown Garland. Due to planned construction, event locations are subject to change. Please visit our website, www.Library.GarlandTX.gov, or call the library for the latest information. Please be aware that photographs and video may be taken at Library programs for use in print and/or electronic media at the Library’s discretion.
