Daniel Tiger Be My Neighbor Day

Lone Star Park

You and your family are invited to meet Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat at KERA’s annual Be My Neighbor Day! Families will also be able to enjoy fun activities and participate in service projects.

This year’s theme is “Giving and Growing.” Be My Neighbor Day is all about:

» Teaching children the importance of giving back to neighbors
» Empowering parents and caregivers to help children grow into caring citizens of the community

It’s also about having fun! Activities will include:

» Two storytime performances with Daniel Tiger
» Meet-and-greets with Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat
» A photo selfie station
» A special vendor area called “Meet the People in Our Neighborhood.” Children and caregivers will get to meet neighbors who help make civic life happen across North Texas, such as police, fire and water/utilities, along with nonprofits who provide services and support to children.

Children can also participate in service projects to support our local nonprofit beneficiaries:

» Creating thank you cards for active-duty military and veterans
» Assemble toiletry and craft kits for hospitalized children and families

This event is free to everyone, but families are encouraged to bring the following items to donate:

» Men’s dress ties
» Canned goods
» New and gently worn sweaters, jackets and coats – all ages
» New and gently worn men’s and women’s shoes
» Cosmetic bags (new only – not used)
» Playdoh

All of the items collected at the Daniel Tiger Be My Neighbor Day event will be donated to families in need across North Texas.

Thank you for being a caring neighbor! We can’t wait to see you at the event.
