The award-winning British stage production of War Horse will be taking to the Dallas stage at the AT&T Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, September 12. Though the movie by Steven Spielberg (trailer above) is famous, Michael Morpurgo’s novel War Horse first took to the London stage in 2007. In 2009, the play moved up to London’s West End, and was finally brought to Broadway in the Spring of 2011. In addition to Best Play, War Horse received Tony Awards for Best Direction of a Play (Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris), Best Scenic Design of a Play (Rae Smith), Best Lighting Design of a Play (Paule Constable), and Best Sound Design of a Play (Christopher Shutt). A Special Tony Award was given to Handspring Puppet Company for their integral work on the production.
