For their next presentation, the vocal group Veridris Ensemble look to the heavens for inspiration. This year will mark the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8, the first crewed mission to circumnavigate the moon. To celebrate the historical event, the Verdigris Ensemble will perform “Consolation of Apollo.” The choral work is a musical journey into the heavens through the eyes of the ancient Roman philosopher Boethius and the Apollo 8 astronauts. The work is composed by Kile Smith who incorporates actual transcripts from the Apollo 8 mission. Verdigris Ensemble will perform three concerts in the area.
