The next Big Deal artist is a former Grammy-nominee, has been awarded three honorary doctorate of music degrees, and was knighted by the French government for his musical contributions.  Not bad for a guy who earned his degree in Social Anthropology and can’t read a note of music. Johnny Clegg – anthropologist, singer/songwriter, activist – is known for blending Western pop and African Zulu rhythms. Clegg and his band will take the stage at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth on March 18.

Clegg will also be joined by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the South African ensemble who partnered with Paul Simon back in the 80s for that little ol’ album, Graceland. The all-male, a cappella group has been busy since then garnering four Grammy Awards, including last year’s Best World Music CD.

After signing up for this Big Deal, don’t forget browse our other Big Deal offerings this week – tickets to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Chopin’s Piano Concerto concert with Jan Lisiecki, or a chance to win the Art and Appetite: American Painting, Culture, and Cuisine exhibition catalogue from the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.

PLEASE NOTE: Only Art&Seek e-newsletter subscribers can win the Big Deal.  If you are not a subscriber then take care of that first, then sign up below for your chance to see Johnny Clegg with Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

UPDATE:  We have our winners. Thanks for playing.
