The Big Deal: Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Presents Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony

by Nusaiba Mizan 24 Apr 2019 1:31 AM

On his Symphony No. 5, Dmitri Shostakovich said, “I think it is clear to everyone what happens in the Fifth. The rejoicing is forced, created under threat. It’s as if someone were beating you with a stick and saying, ‘Your business is rejoicing, your business is rejoicing…’”

Enter to win Big Deal tickets to hear the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra perform Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphony along with Zoltán Kodály’s fun and popular “Dances of Galánta,” and Joaquin Rodrigo’s zesty and dance-filled “Fantasía para un Gentilhombre.” Special guest artist will be guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas. Winning tickets for the season finale concert will be valid for opening night May 17, at Bass Performance Hall.
