The Big Deal: Disappearing-California At The Modern Art Museum Of Fort Worth

by Nusaiba Mizan 15 May 2019 1:31 AM

Planning a trip to the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth to view the poignant exhibition, Disappearing California, c. 1970: Bas Jan Ader, Chris Burden, Jack Goldstein? Win this Big Deal and make it an all-day affair. Enter to win admission for two to the museum and the exhibition, one beautifully illustrated exhibition catalog, and lunch for two at the stylish Café Modern. Disappearing California examines the theme of disappearance and self-effacement, which manifested in works that were daring and often dangerous. Responding to the cultural pressures of the Vietnam War and the nascent field of feminist art, the three artists used “disappearing” as a response to the anxiety of the ’70s. On view now through August 11.

Bas Jan Ader, The boy who fell over Niagara Falls, 1972.
