The Big Deal: Dallas Black Dance Theatre Presents Cultural Awareness

by Jessica Cross 29 Jan 2020 1:32 AM

The Dallas Black Dance Theatre presents the Cultural Awareness at The Wyly Theatre from February 14-16, 2020.  The program features the company’s talented dancers moving to the music of Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Patti LaBelle, Duke Ellington, and more in “Beams from Heaven.” The world premiere “ON. Toward. Press.” by choreographer Hope Boykin weaves spoken word and dance in a work influenced by Philippians 3:12-14. Boykin is a 20-year veteran dancer of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. “Reflections in D” is an Alvin Ailey and Duke Ellington classic that will be performed to live music. Winners of The Big Deal will receive a pair of tickets for the performance on February 14.
