The next guest artist strumming their stuff for the Allegro Guitar series is acclaimed guitarist Sharon Isbin. Isbin was born in Minneapolis and began studying guitar at the very young age of nine, in Italy no less. She studied at Yale, and was responsible for starting guitar instruction at The Julliard School. She has had sold out performances at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, London’s both Barbican and Wigmore Halls, Paris’ Châtelet, and Madrid’s Teatro Real to name a few. The multi-Grammy Award winning artist can be heard on the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s The Departed and is a frequent guest of Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion and NPR’s All Things Considered.
For this Big Deal, you have two venues to choose from to hear the virtuoso Isbin. The Fort Worth Classic Guitar Society will host Ms. Isbin at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth on March 6. And the Allegro Guitar Society of Dallas will take its turn at hosting duties on March 7, with a performance at University Park United Methodist Church in Dallas.
While signing up for this Big Deal you may want to survey and sign up for our other two Big Deals as well – admission to the two-day 51st Fort Worth Show of Antiques and Art at the Will Rogers Memorial Complex, or tickets to Jeffrey Siegel’s Keyboard Conversations: Romantic Music of Chopin at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts.
PLEASE NOTE: Only Art&Seek e-newsletter subscribers can win the Big Deal. If you are not a subscriber then take care of that first, then sign up below for a chance to see Sharon Isbin.
