Giveaway: Passes to see 'Lawless'

by Stephen Becker 14 Aug 2012 12:40 PM

Lawless is a movie we’ve been anticipating ’round these parts for months – ever since Jerome did a feature on Matt Bondurant. The UT-Dallas professor’s novel – The Wettest County in the World – is the source material for Lawless. The film stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy and Jason Clarke as three brothers trying to make it in the moonshine business in the early 1930s.

In the film, their characters’ names are Jack, Forrest and Howard Bondurant. And that common last name is no accident – Matt Bondurant is a direct descendant from these three, and that relationship is what pushed him to write the story.

Matt will attend a special advanced screening of Lawless on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas. Wanna go? All you’ve got to do is go here and download a pass and then get there early – these things are first come, first served, and they always fill up. Bondurant will take part in a Q&A following the film. And for you Big Screen podcast fans, Chris Vognar and I will talk to Matt on Friday for the Aug. 31 episode.
