Were you one of the lucky theatergoers who caught August: Osage County when it visited the Winspear back in 2010? Estelle Parsons ruled the show as the pill-popping matriarch of an Oklahoma family who has no problem telling it like it is.
Her performance was so spot-on, it made you wonder who else could possibly play the part.
Enter Meryl Streep. She’s the star of the upcoming movie version of August: Osage County. And it has to be said – she’s every bit as good as Parsons was on stage (I know, hard to believe).
The movie won’t be out locally until January. But why wait? You can catch a free preview screening on Tuesday at the Angelika Film Center in Dallas. All you have to do is print out a pass and get there early since seating is first come, first served.
