- “The House on Mango Street” closes out this weekend at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas. The play, presented by Cara Mia Theatre, follows a Mexican-American girl as she navigates from adolescence to young womanhood and observes the roles of the women around her.
- In Fort Worth, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band performs a standing room only show at The Post at River East on Saturday. The three-piece country blues band is best known for their high-energy performances. The band plays more than 250 shows per year and the shows are fun for all ages.
- Also on Saturday, The Van Zandt Arts & Cultural District Foundation presents the second annual Tribute to Townes Van Zandt. Local musicians, inspired by the late Texas songwriter will perform at the Forge Bar & Grill in historic Ben Wheeler.
- And, on Sunday, join Dallas Contemporary for a special FriendsWithYou inspired Family Day! Bring a canned food item to donate, and then take part in communal art activities, storytime, and activities that celebrate love, art, and friendship.
