Kitchen Dog Theater presents the play “The Royale” by playwright Marco Ramirez. “The Royale” is inspired by the often overlooked story of Jack Johnson, the famous and flamboyant African-American boxer at the height of the Jim Crow era. The story of the first African-American heavyweight champion was told in the play and movie “The Great White Hope” and the Ken Burns’ documentary “Unforgivable Blackness.” “The Royale” is the winner of two Obie Awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Drama Desk Award. Enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Kitchen Dog Theater deliver a knock-out punch with the regional premiere of “The Royale” at the Trinity River Arts Center on Saturday, March 3.
