- Stop by Umbrella Gallery in Dallas for artist Liz Housewright’s new show “Mixed Blessings.” The show is a series of works that combine family objects inherited from Housewright’s grandmother with her own contemporary objects and those from her immediate family — books, bibles, clocks, a half pound bag of flour, trophies, toys, and paintings.
- If you’re looking for more visual art, the Central Branch of the Dallas Public Library has new work by painter Heather Levy. The show’s called Surrealistic Landscape.
- Beat the heat by checking out some of the best flicks from the New York International Children’s Film Festival. It’s part of the Modern Kids – Summer Flicks series at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
