Starting Thursday, January 13th, if you can’t prove you’re vaxed, you’ll need to pass a COVID test to attend the Dallas Symphony at the Meyerson Symphony Center. You’ll need to show proof of a vaccine, or the negative results of a test taken in the 48 hours before the performance. Otherwise, they’ll give you a rapid test at the door to the concert hall.
The rapid tests the DSO provides will be free. But if the result is positive, they’ll return your ticket price and you’ll be asked to return home.
This tightening of precautions had already been planned — then two DSO musicians tested positive this past weekend which led to their absence and the abridgement of two performances. As before, patrons are still required to wear masks and ticket sales will be limited to provide social distancing in the seats. The DSO is also asking, if you plan to attend, please arrive an hour prior to the concert. The extra time is needed to accommodate check-ins and tests.
If you’re already vaccinated, you can download the free Bindle app ahead of time. The app displays a green check mark when it validates your vaccination status — and the app keeps your medical information secure. The negative result can be shown before your tickets are scanned.
In 2020, the DSO was the first major North Texas arts organization and one of the first American orchestras to return to live performances. Its guidelines – with audiences, performers and staff — became a model for other classical music organizations.

UPDATE TO DALLAS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Due to the significant increase of COVID-19 cases in Dallas, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra is taking action to improve the safety of our audiences, musicians and staff. These additional efforts will make it possible for the DSO to continue to perform for our patrons and the community.
Beginning with the January 13, 2022 concert, DSO audience members age 12 and up must either show proof of vaccination, have proof of a negative PCR test within 48 hours or take a rapid antigen test at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center prior to the performance.
For vaccinated patrons: Prior to attending a concert, patrons should download the free Bindle app at the App Store or Google Play Store. The app will display a green check mark which validates vaccination information, and the patron will present the app screen prior to scanning their tickets.
For patrons who need to test: A negative, rapid antigen test taken on site will be required prior to seating. Rapid tests will be provided at no cost to patrons, and DSO staff will direct audience members to the testing area. Patrons should arrive 60 minutes prior to concert start time to make allowances for the testing. If a patron tests positive, they will be refunded the cost of their ticket and asked to return home.
