Kanye West has recruited Dallas sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson in an ad announcement for his new album, “Donda.”
Richardson is featured in a TV spot that premiered during Game 6 of the NBA Finals. She’s seen running to West’s new single “No Child Left Behind.” West scored and edited the Beats by Dre commercial.
The 21-year-old from Oak Cliff became a gold-medal favorite in June during the Olympic Trials in Oregon, where she qualified for the 2021 Summer Olympics. She won the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 10.86 seconds.
But, Richardson was ultimately left off the USA Track and Field roster after testing positive for T-H-C, the active ingredient in marijuana. Richardson has said she used marijuana to cope with the recent death of her mother, which occurred just a week before her qualifying race.
West’s highly-anticipated tenth studio album is named after his late mother Donda. It’s out this Friday (July 23).
