Now The OTHER Van Gogh Show Has Postponed Opening In Dallas

The ‘Immersive Van Gogh’ exhibit caused headaches when it moved its June opening to Aug. 7. Now ‘Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience’ has pushed its July date to Aug. 19.

Two touring Van Gogh shows are making Dallasites go crazy.

First, it was the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit that postponed its original June 17 opening in Dallas to August 7. That delay meant the show’s already-sold 46,000 tickets had to be rescheduled or refunded. Cue the confusion and anger among ticket buyers who’d shelled out $45 to $105, plus fees.

Now it’s the other digital light show,Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, that has postponed its July 21st start date. It’ll open in Dallas August 19 — at a location that’s still yet to be announced. Both shows have successfully opened in other cities. The Immersive VG exhibit is in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago, while the VG Immersive Experience is in Atlanta, New York and Miami.

Representatives for both shows have blamed supply-chain problems for the delays.

The Immersive Van Gogh exhibit — the first to postpone — will run at the former Masonic Temple at 507 S. Harwood, a facility now called Lighthouse Dallas (the touring show’s Canadian producer is Lighthouse Immersive). As Cory Ross, co-producer of the exhibit, told The Dallas Morning News, “There’s a run on air conditioners, and the cost of plywood is through the roof. It’s crazy, things you never thought would have been a challenge. And microchips: There’s a worldwide run on microchips. And guess what: There are three microchips in every projector we need, and we need 4,000 projectors.”

  • Ticket holders for the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit (the first show to postpone, now opening August 7) can call 844-307-4644 or email [email protected] for help.
  • A press representative for Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience (the second show to postpone, now opening Aug. 17) wrote in an email that “all ticket holders with tickets dated before August 19 will be granted instant upgrades and have the flexibility to either choose a new date or receive a full refund.” More information on tickets to the Experience is available here.
