Are you looking for something different for a date night? A little extra bonding with your gal-pals? Or maybe you’d just like some time sans kids?
After a long year of staying home, Thursday on Tap at the Perot is just the ticket to get you out and socializing again with all of your best buds.
The adults-only event gives grown-ups the opportunity to experience the museum after-hours, when they can explore all five levels of the museum and the Perot’s newest show, The Science of Guinness World Records exhibition. And that’s not all: each week outside, in the Perot’s plaza, ticket holders can enjoy local food trucks, craft beer and wine, live music and games.

The outdoor line up this Thursday includes craft beer from Peticolas Brewing Company and live music from Justin Tipton. And don’t forget to come hungry. Loaded Dallas, a gourmet baked potato truck and Ruthie’s Rolling Café, which specializes in grilled cheese sandwiches, will also be on site.
Organizers say this event is the perfect chance to slow down and take in everything the museum has to offer–without waiting in line behind a group of 5-year-olds.
“If you come in on a busy Saturday, there are things you’re going to miss,” said Chantel McCraney, Director of Operations and Events at the Perot Museum. “This event allows you to be able to really experience the halls in a little bit different light.”
One Perot attraction adults are rediscovering at the event is the Texas Instruments Engineering and Innovation Hall which was reimagined and unveiled in November 2019. It’s new to a lot of people, because it was only opened four months prior to the museum being closed for six months because of COVID-19.
“Everybody is loving the robots and seeing the coding table in all the cool things that you can do in there–whether you’re building or just creating.”
McCraney says that the Guinness World Records traveling exhibition has also been popular with the Thursday night visitors. Visitors can play the largest Pac-Man video game, get physical with a dance-a-thon, see the world’s smallest handmade chess set and much more.
“It’s like an arcade of learning. You’re learning about the science behind all these world records and how they were made, and then you get to try your hand at them.”

Thursdays on Tap happens weekly rain or shine through September. Tickets are $15 for members and $25 for non-members and include admission to the Museum and The Science of Guinness World Records exhibition. Capacity is limited, so purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.
Guests must be 21 years of age with valid ID.
Masks or face coverings are required except while eating and drinking.
