Every day on Art&Seek, we’re talking to people who have tips for virtual art experiences. Share yours with us on Facebook, Instagram, or @artandseek on Twitter. Click above to hear Christie Howard, Managing Director of Jubilee Theatre, share her tip with KERA’s Nilufer Arsala.
Jubilee On Demand is the new way to virtually watch Jubilee Theatre’s upcoming shows. This streaming platform is a partnership with Vimeo On Demand and offers a way to support struggling actors while also being entertained by Jubilee Theatre productions.
Currently, Jubilee Theatre is showing How I Got Over, a musical revue celebrating gospel greats like the Queen of Gospel, Mahalia Jackson. Viewers can enjoy soulful renditions of award-winning religious songs like “Precious Lord,” “Move On Up a Little Higher,” and “His Eye Is On The Sparrow.”
This high-energy show directed by Khira Hailey highlights and applauds the joy of gospel music and is presented in agreement with Nate Jacobs and the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota, Florida.
“This is a hand-clapping, foot-stomping, and most of all soul-stirring performance,” says Howard. Tickets can be purchased at Jubilee Theatre’s website and viewed for 48 hours after purchase.
To support actors from Jubilee Theatre and all over Tarrant County, visit the Live Theater League of Tarrant County’s relief fund for actors and actresses suffering job loss due to COVID-19. You can follow Jubilee Theatre on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, or visit their website to keep up-to-date about events and programming.
