Thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Meadows Foundation to the Emergency Arts Relief Fund, TACA announced its third and final round of grants to seven arts organizations. The arts groups are to receive $20,000 each at the end of the month.
The fund provides grants to North Texas arts groups experiencing a loss of revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic. Back in late March, TACA announced the fund with an initial $350,000 and since then has raised over $700,000 through gifts from family foundations and individuals.
“As we’ve seen in recent survey results, the COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a critical blow to the Dallas arts community, so it’s especially gratifying when donors like the Meadows Foundation step forward to help,” said Terry D. Loftis, president and executive director of TACA, in a prepared statement.
The seven arts organizations who will receive the final round of funds include: At&T Performing Arts Center, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Theater Center, Nasher Sculpture Center, Texas Ballet Theater and The Dallas Opera.
The Emergency Arts Relief Fund dispersed money in two previous waves, one at the end of April and again at the end of May, which were reserved for small-and-mid-size groups with budgets of $5 million and less.
Since the fund began, $592,500 has been distributed through 87 grants, including the seven announced today.
According to the press release, “The balance of funds will be reserved for future arts support and programming to be announced, and to cover administrative costs associated with fundraising.”
In the first two waves of grants, there were 80 grantees.
