The Biennial Lone Star Vocal Competition is going virtual! In response to the needs of young artists in tough times, The Dallas Opera and Dallas Opera Guild, are moving the competition online.

“It’s the ultimate ‘People’s Choice!’ And folks like you get to decide the winner!” Says Ian Derrer, General Director of The Dallas Opera.

Ten finalists of aspiring opera singers will be selected by a panel of judges. The finalists’videos will be displayed from June 1-7 at dallasopera.org and during that time the general public can vote for their favorite. The winner of the most votes will be announced on June 8 on The Dallas Opera’s website and their social media platforms.

The winner of the competition will receive a $1,000 prize and an invitation to automatically participate in next year’s National Vocal Competition semi-finals.

In addition to the Biennial Lone Star Vocal Competition, here’s more from The Dallas Opera. They’re teaming up with WRR 101. 1 FM to present two beloved operas from their past.
