Dallas Is One Step Closer To A Cultural Plan. You’ve Got To Check It Out.

by Hady Mawajdeh 6 Sep 2018 12:07 PM

The City of Dallas’ Office of Cultural Affairs has spent the past 12 months working on a new cultural plan, and now city officials want to hear what you think of it.

The city’s hosting five meetings to review and discuss the draft of their new cultural plan. Find the times and locations here

There’s a draft of the plan on the website dedicated  to it.  And it will be presented and discussed at five meetings. The first one’s tonight, at Bachman Lake Branch Library.

The city’s cultural plan determines priorities like funding for arts programming and cultural centers, and creating mandates that ensure under-served communities can access cultural offerings.

This draft is the first update to the plan since 2002.  The OCA has hosted webinars, led focus groups and they’ve conducted research on cities across the country with similar populations and cultural offerings. After these public meetings, the plan will be revised and presented to City Council.
