Around North Texas, artists, cities and educators have been talking about cultural equity – who controls the resources for arts in our community, who has access to those resources, how decisions about them effect under-served communities. Young people are often missing from that conversation. But Junior Players hopes to change that. And you can join in.
A group of educators and young members of Junior Players will gather on Saturday Aug. 19 at City Performance Hall for a conversation called “Youth in Arts: Create, Transform, Heal.” The event’s free and all are welcome.
If you can’t make it, Art&Seek will stream the conversation live.
Atheena Frizzell, a participant of Junior Players and Clyde Valentin, Director of Ignite/Dallas at SMU Meadows School of the Arts, will lead the conversation.
Participants in Junior Players will be on the panel. So will these folks :
Jon Hinojosa, Artistic Executive Director of Say Si in San Antonio
Julienne Penza-Boone, Director of the Arts Academy at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Westhampton Beach, New York
Lily Weiss, Executive Director of the Dallas Arts District
Miguel Solis, President of the Latino Center for Leadership Development
