A photo exhibition of London-based filmmaker Jevan Chowdury’s Moving Cities film series is opening June, featuring the best still shots from the Dallas iteration of the project.
Last September, Chowdury partnered with the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau to feature Dallas as the first North American city in the ongoing project, which depicts dancers against the backdrops of various cities including London, Athens and Paris.
In “Moving Cities: Dallas,” dancers of styles characteristic of the city (baile folklorico, classical ballet, hip-hop and even the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders) perform against some of the city’s most memorable scenes. Dancers move atop high-rises and amid the busy streets of downtown Dallas. Bruce Wood Dance Project, Texas Ballet Theater, Titas Presents and Dallas Black Dance Theatre collaborated with Chowdury to realize the film.
The opening reception will take place June 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the south entrance of NorthPark in the gallery space between Louis Vuitton and Burberry. RSVP by June 1 to [email protected].
