Lights Dim For Dallas Theater Great Jac Alder

by Jerome Weeks 30 May 2015 11:10 AM

The Winspear Opera House chandelier dimmed Friday night at 7 p.m. in honor of the late Jac Alder, co-founder of Theatre Three.

CTA TBD

Following an old Broadway tradition of silently marking the passing of eminent stage artists, on Friday, May 29, several performance venues in Dallas’ Arts District — including the Wyly Theatre and the Winspear Opera House — dimmed their lights for three minutes at 7 p.m. in honor of Jac Alder, co-founder and executive director of Theatre Three. Alder died May 22, age 80. Alder was one of the longest-serving — if not the longest-serving — founders of any professional American resident theater.

We captured the Winspear chandelier going dark. A memorial celebration for Alder is set for July 13th in the City Performance Hall.
