Congratulations to Timothy Hess from Coppell, winner of the Flickr Photo of the Week contest. Timothy is a first-time winner of our contest. He follows last week’s winner Joseph Haubert of Addison.

If you would like to participate in the Flickr Photo of the Week contest, all you need to do is upload your photo to our Flickr group page. It’s fine to submit a photo you took earlier than the current week, but we are hoping that the contest will inspire you to go out and shoot something fantastic this week to share with Art&Seek users. If the picture you take involves a facet of the arts, even better. The contest week will run from Tuesday to Monday, and the Art&Seek staff will pick a winner on Friday afternoon. We’ll notify the winner through FlickrMail (so be sure to check those inboxes) and ask you to fill out a short survey to tell us a little more about yourself and the photo you took. We’ll post the winners’ photo on Tuesday.

Tell us more about your photo: We took the kids out to West Texas for spring break this year. My family has roots in Marathon going back over 100 years when my great-grandfather was a local businessman and rancher. We were staying in an adobe on the south side of town.

After lunch one day we all took a walk in the Gage Gardens on the southeast end of Marathon. The gardens are open to the public and run by the Gage Hotel. I meandered under a wrought iron canopy and looked up and saw how the clouds and ironwork just lined up at that moment. I set myself up directly under the center of the canopy. I used my wide zoom lens to capture a large section of the canopy and sky together.
