It was down to the wire, but John Bryant has successfully raised $95,000 on Kickstarter to finish his documentary of Gamelan D’Drum, the world-premiere collaboration between the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Police drummer Stewart Copeland and the Dallas percussion ensemble D’Drum. (Bryant is a member of the group.) The campaign made its goal today, in its final hours. Kickstarter is a winner-take-all kind of proposition; if you don’t raise your goal, you don’t receive anything.
Three folks contributed $10,000 each, and will have the opportunity to jam with Copeland in his private studio. Checking in with John on when they hope to complete the film. Will update when I hear back.
