SECOND THOUGHT SEASON 10: Congratulations to Second Thought Theatre – not everyone makes it to double digits. To celebrate, the theater has announced the trio of shows that will make up its 2013-14 season. Most noteworthy: Second Thought co-artistic director Steven Walters‘ Booth will round out the season (May 21 – June 14). From the news release: “The events leading up to Lincoln’s assassination and the epic search to bring his assassin to justice are told intertwined in ways that bring new light to the conspiracy and new depth to the man everyone knows the name of, but few know very much about: John Wilkes Booth.” The show is made possible by a TACA Donna Wilhelm Family New Works Fund grant.

WHAT’S THE STORY?: If you’ve made it over to the Dallas Museum of Art for “Hotel Texas: An Art Exhibition for the President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy,” then you know that the show gathers the works that were in the president’s Fort Worth hotel room on the last night of his life. And on Saturday, you’ve got a chance to learn a lot more about the exhibition. That’s because it will be featured during an episode of The Story featuring the DMA’s Olivier Meslay. Study up by browsing through a slideshow of artwork featured in the show. And then take a listen to an interview yours truly did with an artist who didn’t even know his piece was included in the room until this year. The episode airs Saturday at 7 p.m. on KERA.

YOUR CHANCE TO WIN: Dallas director David Lowery’s Ain’t Them Bodies Saints expands to North Texas today. (Be sure to give The Big Screen a listen for more on that.) But Lowery’s not interested in just his movie. That’s because a bunch of his filmmaking buddies also have movies coming out. And so, in a “rising tide lifts all ships” strategy, he’s encouraging moviegoers to try to go see all the movies in one weekend. In addition to Saints, that means Joe Swanberg’s Drinking Buddies, the SXSW favorite Short Term 12 and the horror flick You’re Next. If you can prove you completed the quadruple threat, Lowery and the other filmmakers will send you some sweet prizes tied to the movie. Drinking Buddies and Short Term 12 aren’t out locally just yet, but the contest runs through September, so don’t fret. Speaking of Saints, that 78 percent fresh rating on rottentomatoes.com is pretty impressive.
