First Look At ‘Monuments Men’ By Dallas Author Robert Edsel

Take a look at the first trailer for George Clooney’s film version of Robert Edsel’s history of the Allies’ attempts to save European masterworks from the carnage of World War II.

CTA TBD

As we’ve known for a long while, The Monuments Men, Dallas author Robert Edsel’s history of the Allies’ belated, understaffed, culturally heroic scramble to save European masterworks from the Nazis’ death wish, is coming out in December as a George Clooney-starring, -writing and -directing film (with Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray and John Goodman).

But this, the film’s first trailer, is new. It just went up on YouTube. As Clooney says, “If you destroy an entire generation and a people’s culture, it’s as if they never existed. That’s what Hitler wants. And it’s the one thing we can’t allow.”

Or, as Bob Balaban asks, “Soo … we get to shoot some Nazis?”

The song, by the way, is Kiss the Sky by Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra .
