UPDATE, 11:30 p.m.: Country music star Randy Travis, hospitalized in North Texas for congestive heart failure, suffered a stroke and had surgery Wednesday night. His publicists said he was again in critical condition.
Our original post continues: Travis was first admitted to Baylor McKinney with presumed congestive heart failure Sunday. After physicians agreed he needed more specialized care, he was transferred to The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano on Monday.
Earlier Wednesday, Dr. Michael Mack said the singer’s condition had stabilized.
“On behalf of his Mr. Travis’ family, friends and associates, we would like to express our extreme gratitude for the overwhelming affection and support that Mr. Travis has received,” Mack said.
Baylor will give further updates as Travis’ condition changes.
