35 DENTON IN TROUBLE?: 35 Denton’s future seems to be a bit murky at the moment. That’s because the festival, which had already lost its chief booker, has now lost the person running it. Kyle LaValley announced yesterday that she’s leaving the organization to help develop a new performance space in Denton called The Hive. And on top of that, 35 Denton has also lost one of its chief financial supporters, Little Guys Movers. It still has a group of anonymous investors, and it sounds as if they hold the key to the future. “At this point it’s in the hands of the investors if they want to move forward with the festival,” LaValley tells DC9 at Night. “I hope that the festival goes forward, and I let them know that I’d love to still lend my assistance. But at this point there hasn’t been much discussion about moving forward.”

THE BIG 3-0: Tonight, Ballet Concerto celebrates 30 years of presenting its Summer Dance Concert with a performance at Trinity Park Pavilion. If you want reserved table seating, it’ll run you $30. But if you just want to bring a picnic and hang out on the lawn, that’s still free – an important distinction for the event’s organizers. “It’s important to make it accessible to anyone and everyone in the community,” Webster Dean, the son of the event’s founder, Margo Dean, tells dfw.com. “It gives exposure to first-time ballet-goers, for people who wouldn’t normally go to the theater. And the quality is meant for seasoned ballet lovers.”
