Huzzah for Jerome Weeks! He won a first place from the Texas AP Broadcasters for “Use of Actuality/Production” in their 2012-2013 awards.
This award recognizes how radio reporters use sound to move listeners through a story. The piece that caught the judges” attention describes how technicians tested and tweaked the acoustics at the then-new City Performance Hall. Hint: it involved popping balloons.
This is Jerome”s second Texas AP Broadcasters award. Last year, he was recognized for specialty beat reporting.
All told, KERA took home six awards:
